Review

Hailing from somewhere in between the mountains of Virginia and the city bustle of Philadelphia, Christopher R. Coello (better known as .you.) creates sounds for the analog ear in the digital year. Consistently eluding the traffic jam of laptop junkies in the electronic music realm, .you. takes it all back to the power of the home multitracker and the aesthetic thrill of live performance. Influenced by deaths, malfunctions, breakups, breakdowns and breakbeats .you.'s debut album "i am you " calls forth everything from IDM to downtempo to electro to glitch to experimental to whatever aptly named cliche that is flooding the market these days-- all through an ambient scope. Completely free of computerized sampling and manipulating, "i am you" was recorded entirely on an 8 track using a veritable aresenal of analog synthesizers and drum machines. The end result??? 64 minutes of diverse electronic music suitable for dancing, thinking, driving, sleeping, living! . File under electronic between Aphex Twin and Z. Chris was a former member of providence union. .you. was known as airmail as well.
