Avant-garde guitarist and spiritualist Tisziji (tis-see-gee) Muñoz once again pushes music to its boundaries with his latest album Divine Radiance. For his debut on the Dreyfus Jazz, Tisziji, along with an all-star cast including Paul Shaffer (co-producer of the album), Ravi Coltrane (son of the late John Coltrane) and Pharoah Sanders, combines the soulful exploration reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix, with the melodic inventiveness and spiritual inspiration of John Coltrane. Hauntingly beautiful, this disc of original music blends soaring modal jazz melodies and ethereal keyboard soundscapes.
