Review

As the Jazz Crusaders in the '60s and the Crusaders in the '70s, Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Wayne Henderson and Stix Hooper comprised one of the most successful groups in jazz history. Their brand of modern jazz filtered through tough Texas funk is unmistakable. This album features new material recorded at the 1966 Pacific Jazz Festival and their two biggest hits of the time - Young Rabbits and Freedom Sound - live from the 1966 Newport Jazz Festival. Added to the newly remixed original album are two new titles, not found elsewhere from Shelly's Manne-Hole in 1968.

* Previously unreleased bonus tracks.
