Review

"Now a resident of Cairo, Egypt, where she is a tattoo artist known as the Queen of Henna, the singer Setona comes from the most eastern part of Sudan…this has produced a fascinating melting pot of African and Arabic musical influences in Setona's music, as displayed on her new album." -BILLBOARD

Born into a culture where musical women are frowned upon, Setona is a symbol of hope and female strength. Unmistakably Sudanese, her music still feels pan-African. Traditional oud and darabukka collide with saxophone, keyboards, bass, congas and violin - and her striking, modal vocals hold it all together. This live CD, powered by humanity and a genuine sense of wonder, was recorded at various locations on a recent European tour.
