Review

Add Rose Ranger's name to the list that includes Sarah McLachlan, Nellie Furtado, Amanda Marshall and Canada's other reigning pop divas. Replies introduces a startlingly original, seductive new voice.

The Vancouver singer/songwriter is quickly gaining a buzz in the Canadian music scene. The Canadian Musician Magazine Song Contest winner released her debut album Replies in 2002 on her independent label Eclyptic Records.

Rose is a melodic songwriter, powerful guitar player and performer with an evocative, sexy-raspy voice. Her style can be compared to Shawn Colvin, Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan. She has shared the stage with recording artist Chin Injeti (bass is base), Tom Landy (Paperboys), Mae Moore, Stephen Fearing (Blackie and The Rodeo Kings), Valdy and Shari Ulrich among others. Before turning to music, Rose studied acting and voice at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles and Capilano College in Vancouver. "I explored other arts, primarily dance and theatre before I found myself with music," Ranger explains. " I feel that music is the most powerful medium in our culture because it is a universal language. Music has the ability to move us into our hearts and out of our fears."
