One taste of ska is all it takes to get hooked--or at least that's all it took for the members of the One Night Band, a Montreal sextet that was initially supposed to be a one-event act. That was three years ago. Since then, the band has been on stage night after night, luring spectators out of their seats and onto the dance floor with its sizzling grooves. Striving to live up to its name, the One Night Band always performs as if each show were the last. Since its beginnings (2003), the ensemble has toured extensively, seducing audiences with its infectious blend of reggae, ska, calypso, and dub. The One Night Band is a completely independent group that has built its reputation by adding its own flavor to Jamaican classics (Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, The Skatalites, Prince Buster, Ken Boothe) while yielding compositions in English and French.
