Review
Like some of its labelmates, Moonshake draws inspiration from German art-rockers Can, who used their home studio to explore the transcendent possibilities of long drones and simple, jazzy rhythms. Eva Luna is the band's first U.S. release, a wonderfully eclectic one, dabbling in gothic grooves ("City Poison"), cosmic freakouts ("Spaceship Earth"), and industrial chaos ("Wanderlust"). The only constants in Moonshake's distinctive sound are rhythmic intensity and a playfulness evidenced by all manner of studio trickery. --Jim DeRogatis
