The 32 selections reissued in this two part collection bring together the greatest recordings of Miriam Makeba and the Skylarks. All of them originally appeared on shellac 78 rpm discs and have been largely unobtainable for more than three decades. This early music, together with the story of its making, constitutes one of South Africa's most interesting and satisfying cultural legacies.
