Review

The five instrumental tracks at the end of A Family Christmas are a great idea, providing listeners with their own karaoke Christmas. Along with some old favorites, Markus includes a spunky Latin number, "Felix Navidad," written by Jose Feliciano, while "Mele Kalikimaka," a Hawaiian song, also pleasantly swings the music away from the traditional. There's also a clever rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," which swaps singing swans, golden rings, leaping lords, and milking maids for discipline tactics such as time outs, dirty looks, and the like. The song, however, does send a sentimental note, as does Markus's seasonal selection, the warm "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
