Review

Produced by renowned Irish producer, songwriter and musician, Frank Gallagher (who has worked with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mary Black, Charlotte Church, James Galway and Phil Coulter), "Stone by Stone" includes 12 songs rooted in contemporary folk, sophisticated pop and lilting country. From the sparkling title track, "Stone by Stone" to the autobiographical "Rather Have the Song," the collection of songs on "Stone by Stone" reveals mature themes of love, longing, fears and faith. Robertson's vocals -- called "pure spun-gold," by the Los Angeles Times -- and her songwriting form the centerpiece of the recording, which also features the work of several heavy-hitting musicians including Duke Levine, Jon Carroll and Dave Mattacks.
