Among British female vocalists, Lisa Stansfield has stood supreme for almost 15 years. You might call her the UK's leading soul diva. Certainly, she's as soulful as they come with a breathtaking voice & a remarkable range. Yet 'diva' doesn't seem quite right. The primadonna connotations of the word don't really fit the down-to-earth honesty & lack of pretension that characterize the girl from Rochdale, Lancashire who has gone on to sell 13 million albums world-wide.
