Review

One of the best-known musicians in the southwest has released a long awaited compact disc that's sure to create even more buzz about this in-demand pianist, conductor, arranger, and composer. "In A Sentimental Mood" is a fluid jazz recording that appeals to a wide range of listeners, from jazz aficionados to those who simply love piano music. Arranged and performed by Lisa LeMay, the solo piano recording includes familiar tunes, such as the title cut and her richly lyric and passionate rendition of All The Things You Are. The disc includes less familiar fare, such as Bloodcount, by jazz great Billy Strayhorn. Also on board are two self-penned originals delivered with tender-hearted finesse and clarity.
