Review

The album, named after the highway which crosses the American continent from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, is a collection of songs drawn from all across the Americas -including Mexican Ranchera, Venezuelan Pasaje, Peruvian Vals, Andean Huaynos, Cuban son, North Amercian Country & Western as well as a french Yéyé classic thrown in for good measure. Panamericana was recorded by veteran engineer Andy Taub, mixed by Mark Plati and features a cast of guest musicians such as keyboardist Anthony Coleman, vibraphonist Matt Moran, clarinetist Oscar Noriega, accordionist Josh Camp and Gypsy Swing guitarist Stephane Wrembel. Thirteen tracks.
