Review

Bones of a Saint. This first solo project by Ken Baldwin is a collection of 12 original fingerstyle melodies for the acoustic guitar. Included are string arrangements by David Wilson on violin, mandolin, cello and upright bass. His son Logan is a gifted percussionist who has added a very easy touch of complimentary accents and rhythms on half of the compositions. The over-all feel of the CD is relaxing to pleasantly upbeat in alternating tracks to provide a varity, yet can still meander with an easy continuity of style throughout all twelve compositions. The playing is intricate and melodic that would appeal to both listener and musician. Arrangements are tastefully and tactfully applied so though all the moving parts are complimentary in the overall design.
