As a vocalist, she's led a long career filled with ups and downs and, oh yes, that marriage to singing partner Louis Prima. But on Keely Sings Sinatra, Keely Smith pays her respects to another love in her life, Ol' Blue Eyes, and creates what may prove to be one of the most enduring records of her entire career. Backed by the Frankie Capp Orchestra, Smith seemingly covers the entire spectrum of Sinatra's career with ease--from the tenderness of "I've Got a Crush on You" to the soaring crescendo of "My Way" and the confident phrasings of "New York, New York." With her trademark voice in perfect pitch and classy production sensibilities, you'd swear this lovingly sung tribute was recorded in the '60s, when Smith and the legendary crooner were still an item. Instead, this disc was finished just prior to Frank's passing. It's a moving testament to Sinatra's great songs, but it's an even more astonishing portrait of the magic of Keely Smith. --Jason Verlinde
