Review

Speaking of the Sex Pistols, sad old Johnny Lydon (nee Rotten) recently released what was hyped as his first bona fide solo album-despite the fact that he bears sole responsibility for the last few embarrassing PiL efforts. Stilted, heavily sequenced, boasting unimaginative remixes by Moby, Left Field, and the Chemical Brothers, it's hard to believe that tunes such as the John Wayne Gacy-inspired "Psychopath" and the bubblegum silliness of "Sun" come from the same man who played a role in teeth-rattling classics such as Never Mind the Bullocks... and Metal Box. But then the Pistols reunion should have convinced us once and for all that there was no hope for this guy, right? --Jim DerogatisThe former Sex Pistols/PIL vocalists 1997 solo album for Virgin. Long out-of-print in the US. EMI.
