Review

"Subzerosonic" is heart-skipping, hip-flipping deep-space ice groove. An odd-time instrumental excursion for devious mind, adventurous ear, hazardous motion and invincible spirit. Exotic, erotic, mournful, electric.

Twelve-string Chapman Stick thumps, growls, thunders and wails through a wilderness of drums, traps and other orchestral beasts, beating a path of progressive rock, jazz, primal and cosmic migration.

Imagine a frigid stew of Return to Forever, Terje Rypdal, Andy Summers and Tony Levin. Stir in some Weather Report, Bill Bruford, Trey Gunn and Santana. Pour it all over Zappa's "Jazz from Hell." Season to questionable taste. Chill. Devour.
