"Joe Deveau is the kind of musician that gives big record companies nightmares. Well, it's hard to imagine anyone getting nightmares from this sublime album. But the record companies are certainly asleep to let it go self-published. Take My Chances has it all: competent vocal harmony, refined Wurly, Rhodes, Hammond, and acoustic piano sounds, and impressive chops from all band members that fit naturally into touching songs.
