Review
Sum is James Whetzel's first solo album. It the ambient Yin which preceded the upbeat Yang of his second album Capitol Hill: Secret Tracks. "Sum" is an instrumental album and the music features the sounds of Whetzel's sarod and tabla playing, West Africa palm-wine guitar music, and throat singing, as well as all kinds of ambient live and electronically altered sounds.
"Ambient music without cliches."
