Review
The formula is not a new one, but it is one that has stood the test of time. Ultra-catchy melodies, pristine harmonies, and all the good vibes you could ask for make Holiday with Maggie something special, especially when heard booming from your car speakers on a summer day. Think Big Star, if they grew up listening to ABBA.
The origins of Holiday with Maggie begin in the small town of Gävle in the middle of Sweden. In 1998, Marcus returned there after three months travelling in Asia. He went to visit his good friend Magnus, who just had started his sound engineering education. Together they decided to form a band and start writing some songs.
Because of Marcus' extensive traveling and Magnus' pursuit of an education, it took the duo a while to get much songwriting accomplished. However, after a trip to Asia together in the summer of 2000, they became inspired to concentrate on writing and recording as much new material as possible.
Now, with the addition of three more band members, they are ready to tour on the heels of their debut cd on Snowglobe Records, "Libarian Types." Full of irrestible melodies and harmonies made of sunshine, it has drawn comparisons to Weezer and Teenage Fanclub from the press.
