Review

A sweet variety of carols and folksongs on voice, guitar, dulcimer, piano and kalimba (African thumb piano). These midwinter melodies transcend the Christmas story to embrace our age-old yearning for light and warmth in the long night of the Winter Solstice. The theme is variety and surprise amid the beauty: Diane recreates harmonies of the 1500s, writes three new verses for "In the Bleak Midwinter," plays the kalimba in a most unusual manner, adds sound effects to "The Twelve Days of Christmas," sings two carols in French, and presents her unique guitar and vocal stylings of such classics as "Silent Night."
