Review

David's first solo release has him teaming up with Bo Ramsey (producer/guitarist for Lucinda Williams and folk singer Greg Brown). A parade of well-known Iowa musicians are featured making for for a mix of country, blues and rock that Icon Magazine compares to "...The Rolling Stones in their Beggar's Banquet to Exile on Main Street period" and that the Des Moines Register ranked as one of the Top 10 Albums of 1995 (a list including The Jayhawks and Steve Earle). This release has also been well-received in Europe where Rolling Stone Germany gives it a 3 1/2-star rating, and the Schweizer Familie Magazine called it "a stunning debut which leaves you asking for more."
