Review

On previous discs such as Rainbow Serpent and Woolunda, didgeridoo player David Hudson made refreshingly simple, but beautiful albums featuring his unique aboriginal wind instrument making music in its purest of forms. On Walkabout the didg virtuoso (and throat behind the Survivor: The Australian Outback opening theme) showcases his instrument's versatility. Putting dance beats or an ambient background behind the didgeridoo has been done before, but Hudson's great playing on these six extended tunes makes them noteworthy. Those familiar only with the instrument's trademark croak will be surprised by the energetic setting behind these mesmerizing tunes. --Jason Verlinde
