Review

Swedish Damnation Army began its journey into darkness in the year 2002 and was quickly signed by American recordlabel God is Myth Records. Two demos (2003) and one album (The Art of the Occult, 2004) were released in limited quantities and gave Damnation Army a strong reputation and status within the underground metalscene. In comparison to Damnation Army's previous offerings "Tyrant" is more dark, mid-paced and heavy with doomier melancholic parts as well as faster parts melded into black metal, much because of the dark lyrical concept together with a demonic and infernal voice. "Tyrant" was recorded at the end of 2005 in Necromorbus studio (well known for producing extreme metal) with Tore Stjerna as producer. Melancholic melodies and an overall dark atmosphere mixed with the evilness of black metal forms the backbone in Damnation Army's musical malice. The music is the vision of one man, Thomas Nyholm, but more members could enter the realm that is Damnation Army.In Comparison to the Swedish Black Metal Band's Previous Offerings "Tyrant" is More Dark, Mid-paced and Heavy with Doomier Melancholic Parts as Well as Faster Parts Melded Into Black Metal, Much Because of the Dark Lyrical Concept Together with a Demonic and Infernal Voice. Melancholic Melodies and an Overall Dark Atmosphere Mixed with the Evilness of Black Metal Forms the Backbone in Damnation Army's Musical Malice.
