Review

"Choices" contains the 2005 Smooth Jazz radio hit by the same name and the previously released "Relentless" with Richard Elliot, which was until now available only on smooth jazz compilations. Featuring a remarkable cast of contemporary jazz talent, Brian Bromberg's "Choices" has been heralded as the bassist/producers best work in the genre. Eric Marienthal, Brian Culbertson, Jeff Lorber, David Benoit, Richard Elliot and Alex Acuna give Bromberg a helping hand in creating a smooth but heartfelt and iPodĀ®-worthy collection of music.

Bromberg calls this the best contemporary jazz recording he's ever made. The hooks are memorable and infectious yet the writing is mature and substantive and the production is richly textured. As with all of Bromberg's recent recordings, no guitars were used on "Choices", although you'll swear otherwise as Brian makes the piccolo bass sing like a lead guitar.
