His self-produced tracks sync hard-core, syncopated, military beats with blind melodies and caustic messages aimed at mainstream whatever. Dark, heavy, hybrid sounds sit solid under gruff vocals. Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine), DMX, Exhibit, Mystical, Wu Tang and the like have all spawned similar sounds, but Billy Joe's brand of unabashed expression is unique.
