Review

The Caribbean is the birthplace of a variety of rhythms and musical styles. Baha Men hail from the Bahamas and play Junkanoo music, based on street carnival rhythms that incorporate a sophisticated blend of influences including New Orleans funk, classic American soul vocal stylings, a touch of rap, the bounce of soca, even a bit of The Beach Boys complements the Baha Men's take on "Kokomo." Doong Spank's songs range from the dance craze kookiness of "Mash the Roach," through the obeah/voodoo romp of "Exuma's Reincarnation," to the crooning slow dance of "Forever by Your Side." This is perfect party music, a great way to add the tropical warmth of the islands to any gathering. --Jeff Grubb
