Review

You're in for a treat, for this is something special. It's not so much what it is - there's no shortage of love song collections out there - as who it is, and her perspective. These are the love songs of a strong, independent woman. She knows what she wants, and she knows how to ask for it. But these are also the love songs of a woman who's sung the Gospel. She sings of desire, first love, and a Higher Love.

Well known as a magnificent singer, Ms. Winbush is so much more than that. The list of classic songs that came from her pen is too long to detail here, but a few from this collection deserve mention. Come My Way, a hit for Reni & Angela in the early '80s, became a classic of the Isley Brothers' catalogue. I've Learned To Respect The Power Of Love, long associated with Stephanie Mills (her version is magnificent), was written by @ngela. Not sold yet? As a producer or arranger, Angela has worked with Janet Jackson, Lalah Hathaway and The Isley Brothers.
